The most effective way to prevent gum infection and gum disease is to stop the accumulation of plaque. Plaque is present because of poor oral hygiene. It invites harmful bacteria to grow and damage the teeth and gums, giving big risk of having certain medical conditions. These conditions are linked to dental health such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes and it weakens immune system. To achieve healthy teeth and gums good oral care is needed through brushing and flossing of teeth everyday. These habits help a lot maintain oral health.

Bad breath is commonly called as halitosis in dental community. This oral condition is characterized by a foul odor on the mouth. The odor can occur from time to time if not treated. Depending on the severity of the halitosis, it can be long lasting oral condition. Since our mouth is already a home to millions of bacteria, poor oral hygiene can easily lead to halitosis in no time. Out mouth is warm and moist in condition which makes it ideal for bacteria to live in. most of the halitosis are caused by something foreign in out mouth. But bad breath in the morning can be considered as normal. Believe it or not, our saliva helps in washing away all the bad bacteria in our mouth. As we sleep our mouth becomes dry and dead cells are left in our tongue which causes foul odor. To avoid bad breath, proper oral hygiene is very beneficial.
