The procedure is necessary to prevent damage caused by the progression of periodontal disease and to regain and maintain a healthy smile. The prevention of the bacteria may not be enough for preventing the recurrence of the condition. But reducing the pockets at its early stage is better than it becomes deeper pockets it will be more difficult to clean and reduced.
