The golf gps system used by the golf course can even be a revenue generator by being a way for people to advertise on. The only bad thing about the units are that they are mounted on the cart, meaning that the golfer may not get accurate measurements due to the fact that they are usually not removable, causing an error in the distance between the cart and the golfers actual position.
